This support group is open to adults interested in understanding the impact of nutrition and mental health, particularly focusing on emotional eating and food addiction. We now have significant research evidence demonstrating the powerful effect of changing nutrition and eating habits to improve mood, thoughts, and overall wellbeing. However, maintaining these lifestyle changes can be challenging. It is essential to cultivate mindfulness and gain a deeper understanding of how and why we eat to develop new strategies that promote improved health and sustainable lifestyle habits.
The support group will meet once a week for four weeks, focusing on issues like emotional eating and food addiction through mindfulness practices. Dates and times are to be determined. The group size will be limited to 4 to 8 people to ensure an intimate setting that fosters discussions on nutrition and mental health. The cost is $75 per group, to be paid in full ($300) before the first session.
Topics will include: emotional eating, mindfulness, food addiction, and intuitive eating. This support group will be led by Andrea Cook, PhD, Clinical Psychologist and Functional Medicine Health Coach, drawing on her textbook Nutritional Psychology: Understanding the Relationship between Food and Mental Health, which explores the connection between nutrition and mental health.
This group is not appropriate for someone with an active eating disorder.
